Choice has marked the conclusion of a 5-year Good Relations-based initiative that has supported tenants living in their shared housing schemes in Ballymena with a Country Fest.

People from all walks of life were entertained during the day by live musical performances from Hugo Duncan, Country Harmony, Fiddler Adam, Boxcar Brian and Bonny Stewart.

The event was organised by Choice and held in the Tower Shopping Centre, Ballymena.  The ‘Country Fest’ heralded the fifth year of the Good Relations Programme and was open to the public. The event was supported through the NI Executive Together: Building a United Community Strategy, which reflects the Executive’s commitment to improving community relations and continuing the journey towards a more united and shared society. The Nursery Close, Ballymena, shared housing development is supported by the Department for Communities and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive.  £2.3M was invested in the scheme’s development and associated 5-year Good Relations Plan.

Choice Housing’s Good Relations Officer Cyril Moorhead – who helped organise the successful free-to-enter event, said,

“It was very important to celebrate the 5-year Good Relations Programme for our Shared Housing Development Nursery Close in Ballymena. We’re delighted to have been able to mark the end of five years with tenants and the greater community in Ballymena. We would like to thank both the management team at the Tower Centre and Ballymena Business Improvement District for their invaluable assistance and support with this event.”

Mr Moorhead added, “We would encourage tenants to continue to engage with Choice through our Community Network, Community Champions, Service Improvement Team, and similar initiatives to ensure the progress made through this initiative continues to develop.”
