Choice are delighted to be shortlisted in this year’s NI Equality & Diversity Awards for Best LGBT Initiative.
The 4th annual Northern Ireland Equality & Diversity Gala & Awards, sponsored by Jones Cassidy Brett Solicitors and AIB, is a unique event providing the opportunity for employers in Northern Ireland to celebrate equality and diversity in the workplace, and recognise those who advocate and drive diversity within their organisations.
At Choice, we are passionate about promoting and celebrating diversity and inclusivity, a highlight being our participation in Belfast Pride Festival 2019.
The Choice Pride Committee had their first meeting in April 2019. The Committee planned a ‘Choice Pride Week’ where each day throughout the week information was distributed to staff covering: ‘A History of Pride’; personal stories about diversity and challenges; a list of LGBT support services; and case studies of people affected by homophobia and discrimination..
The Committee also arranged a Coffee morning in both of our office buildings which raised over £300 for ‘The Rainbow Project’. ‘The Rainbow Project’ also provided training for over 30 staff, with plans to roll out further training, and the feedback from the training was overwhelmingly positive.
Over 32 people represented Choice at the Belfast Pride including employees, family and friends. It was a wonderful day, and we plan to build on Pride 2019 with further initiatives in 2020.
This year the awards will be hosted on Legal Island's social media accounts (follow them on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn) beginning on Friday 4th September 2020 and culminating on Friday 25th September 2020.
