One hundred and ten people attended a cross community ceilidh this week at the Millbrook Lodge in Ballynahinch. Choice organised the event for local residents aged 50+ which was funded through the Department for Communities T:Buc initiative.
Ceilidhs are a great way to link communities through music and dance, and the event on Wednesday was an opportunity to share information on various Good Relations programmes for older people through T:Buc.
Those attending came from the local areas including: Saintfield, Ballynahinch, Crossgar, Drumaness and Dromara. Music was provided by the Dancing Digits, and further multicultural flavour was added by a Chinese fan dance team who carried out a traditional Chinese dance performance during the fun-filled afternoon.
Sharon Hunt, Choice’s Community Support Officer said:
“Along with our partners we were delighted to hold this cross community, colourful, multicultural event. The atmosphere was fantastic! We look forward to hosting more events such as this in the future to improve local community relations and continuing the journey towards a more united and shared society”.
