A leading charity has marked 25 years of providing support for people with ill mental health in the Coleraine area.
Praxis Care is a major provider of services for adults and children with a learning disability, autism, mental ill health, acquired brain injury and for older people, including people with dementia. Its Coleraine service provides accommodation and support services to individuals with mental health problems and aims to enable people with mental health issues to live independently in the local community.
The service consists of 10 cluster flats in the Killowen Street area and is owned by Choice, one of the largest independent housing associations in Northern Ireland.
To mark the momentous date, Praxis Care and Choice held a coffee morning in the Coleraine scheme. The event was attended by the Northern Health and Social Care Trust, service users, staff, families and friends.
Geoff Bunting, Assistant Manager of Praxis Care Coleraine Scheme says:
‘Praxis Care provides a vital support service to the service users in the Coleraine Flat Cluster scheme. We continue to work in partnership with Choice Housing, the Northern Health and Social Care Trust and a variety of local agencies to meet the needs of people with mental illness living independently in the community.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff team for their work and commitment to the scheme over the years. We look forward to continuing our work in the future.’
Ursula Toner, Regional Head of Tenant & Client Services said:
“I am delighted to see this scheme continue to thrive thanks to the dedication of staff and the welcoming nature of residents. Reaching the 25 year mark is an incredible milestone, one that we should all be very proud of.
“These celebration events are important not only to mark the great work of done by Praxis the Trust and Choice, but also of the significant contribution by everyone who lives here and who have made this their home.”
