Milestone forLowtherstown Court

Choice Housing marked another milestone with one of their local schemes today as staff, friends and family got together to mark 25 years of Lowtherstown Court, a sheltered living scheme in the centre of Irvinestown.  The housing association is at the forefront in the provision of social housing and providing housing and support services for people in Northern Ireland. The association currently has 67 sheltered living schemes across the region and five in Fermanagh.

Lowtherstown Court is a sheltered living scheme, designed specifically for older people. This type of scheme enables tenants to live independently and privately in their own home within a safe and supportive environment.

The scheme is comprised of 25 self-contained apartments, including; 21 single bedroom and 4 double bedroom apartments. First opened in 1993, Lowtherstown Court welcomed its first tenants including Mrs Ena McPhilomey still resides at the sheltered living scheme today.

Carol Ervine, Group Director of Tenant and Client Services at Choice said:

“We are proud to have reached such an important milestone with Lowtherstown Court; it was heartening to meet some of our tenants, particularly those who were here at the very beginning. Hearing some of their stories of when the scheme first opened and how it has evolved over the last 25 years is amazing.

“There is continued demand for social housing in both the Irvinestown and surrounding areas as well as Fermanagh as a whole and Choice Housing are working hard to address this”.

There are a number of apartments available at the popular Lowtherstown Court scheme for people aged 55 or over. To find out more call 0300 111 2211 or email enquiries@choice-housing.org.
