Energy & Development Strategy

3 year Energy and Sustainable Development Strategy.

As part of Energy Week 2016 Choice launched our three year Energy and Sustainable Development Strategy.  This strategy will continue to run until 31^st March 2019 and demonstrates our commitment to energy and environmental management.

Our three step approach is to reduce the amount of energy we use, purchase our energy effectively to reduce costs, and to reduce our impact on the environment.

In 2016/17 we met 14 out of our 15 targets, with some highlights as follows:

• We delivered a saving of approximately 7.3% on energy costs through effective procurement[1].
• The environmental standard BS8555 was achieved for our head offices.
• We have provided Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for homes where these are required, with our average energy rating now 75, which is significantly higher than the N. Ireland average of 60.
• The information and support we provide to our customers has been updated on our website, with the creation of an Energy Guide and numerous energy related leaflets.
• We held a series of energy roadshows in 2016 as part of Energy Week, with significant potential savings identified for our tenants.
