John Gartland receives an Outstanding Contribution award at the Chartered Institute of Housing's Health & Housing conference.
Choice were delighted to be headline sponsor for the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) Northern Ireland’s Health & Housing conference this week. The conference focused on the many challenges that housing providers face in bringing about good health outcomes and developing new homes that deliver wellbeing through innovative construction and inclusive design.
We were very proud that John Gartland, former Chief Excutive of Ulidia (a founding organisation of Choice), received the Outstanding Contribution award. Throughout his career, John focused on bringing about better housing and health for some of the most vulnerable groups in our society. Ulidia managed a wide portfolio of general needs and supported housing located across Northern Ireland and was recognised for a number of awards, including the accolade of being the first housing organisation from Northern Ireland to win the Outstanding Achievement in Housing Award at the UK Housing Awards. John received a BSc (Hons) Degree from Queen’s University, Belfast and an MBA from Ulster University. He has completed Excellence Education Programmes at Harvard Business School, Boston and McGill University, Montreal. John is a Chartered Director with the Institute of Directors and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH). A past Chair and national Council member of CIH, he has also served as Chair of Housing Rights Service. He was awarded the MBE for services of housing in Northern Ireland in 2001.
Congratulations to John on behalf of everyone at Choice for his pioneering and progressive dedication to transforming the social housing landscape in Northern Ireland.
