A partnership between Choice Housing and Fusion Heating is paying dividends for more than 100 social homes across Northern Ireland following the completion of a major energy efficiency upgrade programme.

It is estimated each of the 102 homes will save more than £80 each year on annual heating bills as a result of the work, which included the installation of efficient natural gas boilers and heat preserving loft insulation.

This partnership represents an investment of almost half a million pounds in 102 homes with Choice investing £330,000 alongside further funding of £110,000 from the Housing Association Energy Saver scheme within the Northern Ireland Sustainable Energy Programme (NISEP). The NISEP provides assistance for a range of home energy saving measures and is delivered by energy companies and managed by the Utility Regulator.

The application to NISEP and the installation of the energy efficiency upgrades were completed by Choice’s heating maintenance contractor, Fusion Heating Limited.

Ciaran Andrews, Assets Manager at Choice Housing said:

At Choice, we take our environmental responsibilities seriously and across our operations have implemented a far reaching Energy and Sustainability Strategy that has already resulted in substantial energy savings for customers.

“The Housing Association Energy Saver NISEP Scheme, delivered by Fusion, has been an important part of this work and has been good news for households particularly with the colder months ahead. We look forward to delivering energy upgrades to more homes, both in partnership with NISEP and through our wider planned maintenance projects.”

Mark Kerr, Planned Works Contract Manager at Fusion Heating said:

“Fusion was pleased to be able to secure NISEP funding on behalf of Choice and to complete heating and insulation upgrades which will make it much easier for tenants to heat their homes going forward. We have been successful in securing funding for the year ahead that will deliver heating upgrades to a further 100 Choice homes.”

Choice manages more than 10,000 homes in Northern Ireland and in the last year invested more than £18million in planned maintenance projects across the region.
